Candidate Announcement

Longtime Rocklin Community Member Mike Murray

Announces Campaign for Placer County Supervisor

Rocklin, Calif. – March 31, 2023 – Mike Murray announced his candidacy for the newly drawn Placer County Supervisor District 3 seat for 2024. The district is currently held by Supervisor Jim Holmes who will have served for nearly 20 years. District 3 has not been held by anyone outside the Auburn-area for more than 30 years. The new district includes all of Rocklin, Loomis and parts of Penryn and Newcastle.

“I have spent the majority of my life in this community and I am excited about the possible opportunity to serve this community,” said Murray. “I have seen this County more than double in size since I moved here with my parents. While change is expected, I will do everything in my power to give my kids the same opportunities I had growing up here. Placer County is a special place. I often say, ‘people flee from California, they do not flee from Placer County.’ We must do everything in our power to preserve our community here in Placer County.”

Mike has served the community in many aspects over the years. He coaches youth sports, sits on a school site council, sits on the board for the Gold Country Taxpayers Association, serves as Vice Chair of the Placer County Republican Party, and has helped candidates throughout the country and region win elections. This includes working as the Campaign Manager and Political Director for Congressman Kevin Kiley.

“I have seen Mike be a fierce advocate for children and our community,” said Julie Hupp, Board President of the Rocklin Union School District. “He worked hard to fundraise, knock on doors, and support many quality candidates for local school boards. I proudly endorse Mike and I look forward to working with him on the Board of Supervisors.”

“In these days, when so many things are backwards, Placer County needs the leadership strength and conviction of Mike Murray,” said Loomis Mayor Danny Cartwright. “While you are out there working hard for your family, Mike will be working hard, doing the right things, for you and your family. I wholeheartedly endorse and support Mike Murray for Placer County supervisor and encourage you to do the same.”

Mike and his wife Noelle have two young children that they are raising in the same schools Mike attended. Mike's previous experience includes working as an Executive Director for a non-profit and as a corporate director for a national political consulting firm. Mike currently works for The American Council as their Political and Outreach Director.
